DRIED HOP BINES

Dried hop bines are available all year and can be despatched nationwide.

The hop bines are dried as soon as they are harvested, to retain their fresh green colour, and packed into boxes for storage or sleeved in long, clear plastic tubes for retail display.

Dried hop flowers are fragile and need gentle handling.  We recommend that dried bines are allowed to absorb atmospheric moisture for about 24 hours before being hung so we suggest the dried bines are placed in a damp location overnight so that the leaves and flowers become raggy to the touch rather than crisp and brittle.  A garage or shed is ideal but do not leave them outside in the rain.      An alternative is to spray the bine with a fine water mist and wait for it to soften.  Inevitably some flowers or leaves will be dislodged during handling so it is a good idea to use a dust-sheet underneath.  Please note, hop flowers contain lupulin a yellow substance which looks like pollen.  This can stain carpets or fabrics.

The bines are very light in weight so can be easily attached to hooks or nails by means of the hop twine which runs through them.  They should be placed in a location where they can remain untouched.
Dried hop bines can last for a long time but are usually replaced every year because they gradually fade in colour (depending on their exposure to direct light) and accumulate dust!
