LAVENDER FESTIVAL
The Lavender Festival is our major event every year but there are also seasonal food tastings in the shop and occasional courses such as Art Days and Christmas Wreath-making. Check our Events Diary or sign up to our e-newsletter so you don’t miss out on any events.
THE LAVENDER SEASON
Lavender plants are ready for sale from the shop in early May but the lavender season really gets underway in June and the glorious scent and vibrant colour of the fields fill the valley until early August.
The first hint of colour appears in early June and we begin cutting the lavender for bunches just when the buds are ready to burst in the latter part of June. Harvesting for oil starts in mid July and continues until early August, progressing through the different varieties as they mature.
NB. Being a working farm, access to the fields is restricted to tours only.
THE LAVENDER FESTIVAL 2012
The popular Lavender Festival events this year take place on the weekends of 7th, 8th, 14th and 15th of July. There are tours of the lavender fields, fresh-cut bunches of lavender for sale, lots of herb and lavender plants, and fresh-picked local cherries and strawberries. Many of our suppliers come and offer tastings of their wonderful products - especially the lavender foods - and there are also crafts and toiletries.
For a unique experience, you can book an Aromatherapy Massage in the lavender fields. Imagine lying on a couch in the lavender fields, with the glorious scent of the flowers, being massaged with our soothing Lavender Massage Oil. Appointments are 30 minutes long and need to be pre-booked. Aromatherapy Vouchers can be purchased online, on the phone or in the shop. Massages are on the Festival Weekends of Sat 7th, Sun 8th, Thurs 12th, Fri 13th, Sat 14th and Sun 15th July.
There is no entry charge to the festival but there is a small charge for parking. Cars £2, motorbikes £1. Dogs must be kept on leads and are not allowed in the buildings or on the tours.
Coaches cannot be accommodated at the weekends. Coach parties visiting the shop on a weekday must be pre-booked by agreement.
