Set in the North Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty only 20 miles from central London, the farm’s 1000 acres are steeped with history. Castle Farm itself is the site of an old Norman Castle dating back to the 11th century, and there are several historic places of interest in the local area so it’s worth planning a day’s visit if you are coming from a distance. The Hop Shop itself has a remarkable setting, located in the meadows of the River Darent and our farming policy has ensured that the picturesque quality of the valley’s landscape has been retained. If you wish to explore the area, you can park at the nearby Lullingstone Country Park and venture out along the Darenth Valley Long Distance Footpath to Shoreham or Eynsford.

We would love you to visit us and bring your family and friends but please note – WE ARE A BUSY WORKING FARM and ACCESS IS TO THE SHOP ONLY. Health and safety are of prime importance, so we need to have some strict rules and would appreciate your co-operation!

• Visitors are restricted to the shop only and access to the lavender fields and distillery are only possible in the company of a tour guide. Children must be supervised at all times and dogs must be kept on leads. See more information on tours.
• Car parking is for the use of customers while in the shop only. Customers wishing to go for a walk must park at the nearby Lullingstone Visitor Centre.
• Refreshment such as ice creams, crisps, drinks and snacks can be purchased in the farm shop but we do not have a restaurant or coffee shop. At the Lavender Festival weekends in July, we offer teas and cakes and cook our succulent farm beefburgers.
• Toilets can be found at the Lullingstone Visitor Centre. Facilities on the farm are only provided for pre-booked tour groups and during our Lavender Festival weekends when we hire portaloos.
